i hav an 85 mustang and i hav to take the dash out to change the heater core and i hav been told that i have to discharge the airconditioner or whatever how do i do that ? thanks85 ford mustang air conditioning?
for starters, you're going to need to change over refrigerant from old R-12 to R134a. The R-12 is hard to find and way too expensive. check with a local shop to see if they can recover the refrigerant from the system for you. then after you have completed heater core change out, have then charge the system with R134a. it will cost you a bit up front, but once the change over is done you'll be set for quite a while.
